There have been some rumours going around about The N and their new\par
programming direction. We’ll leave it to them to announce exactly how\par
The N will look in its new 24/7 format… but everyone should know that\par
tv series are produced well in advance, so that changes will\par
necessarily be gradual.\par

\par

You all know that The N licensed 24 episodes of Season 7 of\par
Degrassi, and 13 episodes of Season 4 of Instant Star, and we have\par
wrapped filming of all these episodes. So in 2008 we can expect The N\par
to air Degrassi Season 7 (and in fact they have already aired the first\par
7 episodes, so there’s another 17 to go!) and Instant Star Season 4.\par

In my opinion, and of course I’m completely biased, these are\par
absolutely the best seasons of Degrassi and Instant Star yet, I am just\par
SO proud of them and I can’t wait for you to see them!\par

\par

However, it is entirely possible that the scheduling that we\par
thought was going to happen for both shows may be changed. You may have\par
seen today’s press release from The N about their new format, and this\par
release does not mention Instant Star so we can take that as a good\par
indication that Instant Star’s projected February 15 start date has\par
been pushed back… by how much, whether it is weeks or months, we do not\par
know.\par

I’ll let you know as soon as we know.\par

As to further seasons of Degrassi and Instant Star, it is almost\par
certain that there will be Season 8 of Degrassi. The exact number of\par
episodes will be decided over the next couple of months.\par

\par

However, in the case of Instant Star the resolution of the plot\par
lines at the end of the final episode of Season 4 is such that it is\par
completely possible to end the series gracefully at that point, and\par
leave on a high note with everyone wanting more but feeling very\par
satisfied with the series as a whole.\par

\par

We have had ongoing discussions with CTV and The N with this in\par
mind. And the decision has been made that in fact Instant Star will end\par
at the end of Season 4. There will be no Season 5. We have let the cast\par
and crew know this. We have let them know how enormously proud we are\par
of them for having been part of the creation of one of the most\par
innovative and original tv series in television history. And they have\par
responded with thanks and congratulations not many series get even four\par
seasons, and Instant Star has been an enormous success in over 120\par
countries around the world for exactly that!!!\par

And I also want to thank all of you so much, for continuing to be\par
so supportive of Instant Star and Degrassi and our incredible casts. It\par
may sound trite to say it, but it is true… we do it all for you, and\par
your love of the show has meant everything to us.
